House of Names
Two years ago- after realizing that our lineage/bloodline are from Spain and with noble blood, I decided to look more info about the Navarrete Coat of Arms. I was awe then to see this site: House of Names and i printed what their site says about the Navarrete history- not aware at that time that the information posted on their site was wrong. That Navarrete is a variant to the surname "Navarro" or was it? -Confused, I decided to dig in more, an idea sprung in my thought 'try searching using Español' -i cant possible found the right info regarding Navarrete if i kept searching through English. So i did! i search slowly in spanish- different word combination- Google is my best friend! After a days of going through different sites i meet the mother of all Spanish Coat of Arms. Yeah..this time its a legitimate site with a very good background-its records where from Heraldica Official. So then i confirmed that the House of Names post are wrong, i went to my Yahoo- and sent them a message of disgust-

I will not tolerate such ignominious subject, regarding the Navarrete Arms. I am well aware of the Navarro Arms, which your responsible persons speculated that Navarrete was one of its surname- spelling variations. My Honorable ancestors were in disgrace! I was like, lol after that- well it took them 4 days to get the right info. I was really relieve that the House of Names did their best- but it didn't end there- after they replied its done- i sent another email-the page of Navarro isn't changed at all- Navarrete is still its spelling variations-but they are quick to adjust the Navarro.
I'm really glad, no- I'm thankful that this single act of appeal or you may call it violent reaction, did changed a lot- now other websites selling and advertising the Navarrete Coat of Arms followed the House of Names.
La historia de la Familia
avarrete is of Toponymic origin. The toponymic surnames are those that derive from the name of the place where once lived or possessed lands, the founder of the surname. Therefore, we can affirm that the founder of the lineage once owned or run the village.
Navarrete was a native of the place of Navarrete. In fact the first to have taken the name of the village as surname is Caballero Don Pedro son of Rodrigo de Navarrete. As for the etymology of the word "Navarrete" some writers, they tell us that this drifts of "Navarre", that at the same time the preroman word stems from "Nava", among others has had the meaning of "marshy place".
Village of Navarrete belongs to jurisdictional district of Logroño Province of Rioja. In this city and in it cited Village they flourished in very old times some of the noble gentlemen of the lineage of Navarrete. Branches of this lineage passed to Andalusia, Navarre, Iberian Peninsula, America and Philippines.

In this lineage were famous gentlemen, Caballero (Knights) which gave luster and glory, among the ones were the Grand Master of Field (Maestro de Campo) is Don Alonso Navarrete that took part in the famous battle of San Quintín - 1557, under the reign of Dom Felipe II - King of Spain and Portugal. Don Alonso gave the triumph to the Spanish weapons set against the French. It was a gentleman of Santiago who gives Alonso Navarrete the nickname "the Dentudo". A letter exists which gives counts the king, of a feat of arms, that was Navarrete – the protagonist: says that he went to keep certain step with ten flags that added eight hundred men and in the brink of war, the French with twelve flags of infantry arrived and a good blow of Spanish riders came in the very specific land. Outnumbered by the French the Spanish still managed to surround them and break through the French formation. His strategy worked now the destructive French army fled leaving a great number of dead soldiers and badly wounded, among the ones were French noble gentlemen. Spanish pursued the French and battled again, the French ended in great loss of life. This letter directed to King Felipe II, continues reporting to the sovereign ruler that the Spanish harquebusiers "did a fire of the hell". It complains in the missive of the German cavalry, that must have supported were at bay and remained quiet and did nothing; "I told the devils, return to Germany ".
Of the very noble gentlemen of this lineage one must cite Don Baltasar Navarrete (Count) that was a Governor of the State, of the Queen of Poland; in the kingdom of Naples, Don Juan Navarrete, grandson of Navarrete "the Dentudo", died of an arcabuzazo that stopped with the chest in 1578, after to have had the glory to assault the first one hostile trench and to have nailed the flag of Spain.
One of the oldest males of this surname was Juan Martínez Navarrete, that January 5, 1364 won achievement of Nobility, in Seville. Of the same lineage was Don Pedro Díaz Navarrete, Master of the Farmhouse of Jarafe, that later they called Navarrete, and jailer of the Village and of the castle of Jódar. Juan Francisco Navarrete Portocarrero was a judge of the Real Audience of Seville. In another reference we find Doña Dolores Navarrete, Marquesa of Real Guard that married Sebastián María de León y Navarrete, Brigadier of Cavalry, Gentleman of Calatrava and Marquis of the Abalayuelas.
Domingo Fernández Navarrete (1610–1689) was a Spanish Dominican Missionary and Archbishop. In 1646, he and twenty-seven brethren left Spain for the Philippines via Mexico. They arrived in Philippines on June 23, 1648. Taught theology at the Dominican University of St. Thomas, Manila, before he left with a group to go on a mission to China in 1657.
In recent times, Javier Navarrete (born 1956) is a composer of film scores. His most famous score, for which he got his Academy Award nomination, was for Pan's Labyrinth (his second collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, the first being The Devil's Backbone). He also wrote the scores for Tras el cristal, Dot the i, along with various other Spanish films. He has also scored films in the U.S., including Mirrors and Inkheart. Rolando Navarrete (b. February 14, 1957) is a Filipino ex-boxer who briefly held a junior lightweight (super featherweight) world title in the 80s. His nickname "The Bad Boy from Dadiangas" had a Boxing record total of fights 72 Wins 54, Wins by KO (Knockouts) 31, Losses 15. A fine boxer, Navarrete had a good talent and was known for his hard-hitting punches, his stance known as Southpaw. Rex Lasat Navarrete (born May 27, 1969 in Manila, Philippines) is a Filipino American comedian whose material is geared toward Filipino audiences. Karen Navarrete-Anton (Filipino) a Polynesian Dance School owner and a car racer. Overall champion in the (MRRS)-Marlboro Red Racing Competition at the Ferrari-owned Varano race track in Italy. In doing so, Karen became the first lady driver and first Filipino to capture the crown since the event was launched worldwide in 2004. Karen clocked the fastest time in the GT drift race using an Alfa Romeo, besting 19 men and lady racers from Ukraine, Russia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, South Africa, Bulgaria and the Philippines. Karen also topped the Autocross race and shone in other events at the Fiorano Track. Jimena Navarrete Rosete (b. February 22, 1988) born and raised in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico; is a Mexican model and the current holder of the Miss Universe 2010 crown. She was previously named Nuestra Belleza México in 2009.
